so this is pretty low-key, kind of a more spread out explosions in the sky, but its very movie soundtrack-like so emily you might like it. maybe its a little too depressing but give it a try its kinda creepy in a cool way.
so this one took a little longer, but it gets my stamp of approval. look out for 'the mystery zone'. give it a few listens before you give up on it, its not as straightforward as gimme fiction.
here's the sophomore album from some guy that came out of nowhere with 'shallow grave'. i think you guys have it so let me know if not. this one sounds like a good complement to the first album.
so i know our parents probably played this album to death, but i sure dont remember most of these songs. between this, buffalo springfield, and neil young, ive finally gotten into oldies albums! just skip marrakesh express (it didnt age well) and youve got a pretty awesome album. its not ruined by radio hits either (judy blue eyes never gets old)
you'll like this one - its your typical indie girl singer songwriter stuff but she can play the electric guitar!! You get nice little ditties and then electric guitar freakouts mid song. A good starting point is 'laughing with a mouth of blood' or 'save me from what i want'
this is a collaboration between the shins lead singer and Danger Mouse, some guy involved in gorrilaz who also made a white album / black album mashup. whatever. it sounds like shins to me
